Most of Peter Callesen's work is made from one complete sheet of a4 paper.

"I find this materialization of a flat piece of paper into a 3D form almost as a magic process - or maybe one could call it obvious magic, because the process is obvious and the figures still stick to their origin, without the possibility of escaping. In that sense there is as well an aspect of something tragic in most of the cuts."

I probably wouldn't have looked twice at this if you hadn't talked about it, but because you did, I took an extra moment to think about it, and yes, it is entirely sad and creepy.

Also, the process isn't so obvious to me, one of the unwashed masses. ;)

The quote's from the artist, but I'd agree with his perspective. There's a piece on the site with pencil-drawn birds trying to escape the paper, in 3D.

It looks incredible - it's kinda weird trying to work out how it's been made...
