Fluid shortage
I have nothing to drink.

I know this post should be on the 650+ pages of A4 paper in the queue to be bound and handed in (6 documents of 10600+ words, plus appendices), but I've had two pints and a rather large burger and I'm dehydrated. And I own no drinks.

Now, a short couple of months ago, this wouldn't have been a problem. I mean, there's a tap right there, right? However, it's fairly likely that the frequency that I get crippling gut pain in Aberystwith is to do with the high aluminium content of the water, so I've been buying the cheapest bottled water I can find. Since then, no serious attacks.

Anyway, I've poured myself an amount of tap water - we'll see how it goes. Maybe if I leave it to settle...

EDIT: Mm, metally tasting...

Ta!

Sleep deprivation + being in bed = can't be arsed to go to Spar. I went to buy water from Somerfield on Monday, but they shut early.

On top of that - says you! :P

Actually, I've got a Brita knocking around somewhere. I never buy cartridges for it because they're very expensive and I didn't use it enough - I'd forget to fill it, and waste the cartridge.

However, I probably would do now, and I can run a system of filling up bottles from it, so that I don't have to wait for it to filter.

Hi, I was just browsing 'friends of aber' and saw your post. Where can i find more info about the aluminium thing? It makes horrible sense and might explain my friend's ongoing problems. Thankyou :-)

I'd not actually looked it up before, relying on word of mouth, but since you ask I thought I'd try and verify it.

The only place I can find anything on it is here:
http://www.springerlink.com/(0w4n0jrjgrkoki454d2niwja)/app/home/contribution.asp?referrer=parent&backto=issue,4,13;journal,57,99;linkingpublicationresults,1:100162,1

Which you should be able to get on campus - whether you need to go through athens etc. I don't know, as I've not generally been looking for biochem papers ;) I'd have thought the department or one of the libraries would have the book, too, as the research was carried out here.

Poor Ian, you have got Aluminium diseased! That is probably the most depressing thing I have ever read in my life, on going to Uni. ; (

Quick go get a water cooler in your room - it make makes hot water too so you can sponge bath yourself in bed too.

You like that!
