Due to being incapable of thinking of an idea for a business for use in my coursework that is not a) original b) eventually VERY lucrative and c) that I would enjoy very much, I have had to use one of said ideas. So now that I've basically given this one of my ideas away to the university, I share it to the internets, too:
MMMRPGs (massively multiplayer mobile roleplaying games). Basically, an MMORPG on your phone. You spend two years building a franchise world to set it in, with episodic, cheap RPGs, building in roleplaying complexity from 'A Link to the Past' to 'Planescape: Torment' (or not even that far) and then take the top-end RPG you reach and convert it to support multiple players, with interactions. Build a massive world, with quests broken down into tasks short enough that people will be able to pick up their mobile and remember what they were doing with a glance at their log.
I'm never likely to get around to it, and somebody else will think of it anyway, so I donate this idea to whoever wants to use it. If you can sell it to investors, I reckon you can net £1'000'000 profit toward the end of the 4th year, and only need about the same in initial investments to get there (that's a big investment, folks!) - those figures based on running it as a full-time business, with a full programming team, charging £5 a month for subscription to the final product, and charging for the episodes individually. Unless, of course, I do make it at some point before you, in which case - it's mine.
For more information on episodic games, google 'SiN Chronicles'.
