Very interesting!

Depression is always something I've thought of in terms of a sliding scale- a full-on case can include not eating, sleeping, being terrified of brick walls because they will Get You and other panic attacks, head and back pain, loss of short-term memory, among other things. However, if you take the minutest medical diagnosis and isolate its characteristics and make it a lot less severe, the thought patterns and dedication can conceivably be useful.

I would still emphatically say it's a disorder, especially because it totally shuts down some people's lives.

Yeah... when depression is really bad, you're not examining your problems and breaking them down into solvable pieces. It's just... MY LIFE IS IMPOSSIBLE.
